High-Density Synthetic Rubber: Offers an excellent friction coefficient of about 0.8–0.9 under dry conditions. It retains reliable grip in slightly damp environments, though traction drops noticeably in standing water.
Metal (e.g., Fingerboard Rails): Typically finished with a smooth, polished coating. Designed for low friction in both dry and wet conditions, it becomes even slicker when exposed to moisture.
Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE): Known for its self-lubricating properties, this material maintains a smooth glide when wet, but offers very limited inherent grip.
Damp (No Standing Water): Rubber tracks maintain decent traction; plastic tracks experience a slight drop in grip; metal and UHMWPE tracks remain largely unaffected.
Wet (Thin Water Film): Rubber traction drops significantly; plastic tracks become highly slippery; metal and UHMWPE tracks deliver an even smoother glide.
Flooded (Standing Water): All materials experience a severe loss of traction, leading to high slippage.
Opt for high-density rubber tracks for superior performance on damp surfaces.
Keep the surface slightly damp rather than flooded to achieve the perfect balance of smooth gliding and safety.
Choose models equipped with anti-slip rubber pads on the base to prevent the track itself from shifting during use.
