Minimum Operating Space Requirements for Enclosed Industrial Sweepers

I. Aisle Width Requirements (Working Clearance)

Aisle width is the most critical metric for operational efficiency.

• Compact / Small-Scale Models: These units typically have a chassis width of 1.1–1.2 meters. With a minimum turning radius of 1.05–1.2 meters, they generally require an aisle width of at least 1.3–1.8 meters to ensure smooth passage and maneuvering.

• Standard / Heavy-Duty Models: These machines often have a width of approximately 1.9 meters. With a turning radius of roughly 1.2 meters, a minimum aisle width of 2.0–2.5 meters is recommended. Note that with side brushes fully extended, the total cleaning path can exceed 2.1 meters, requiring even wider corridors.

II. Vertical Clearance (Height)

• Machine Height: Fully enclosed cabs typically stand between 1.3 and 2.0 meters tall.

• Safety Margin: Special attention must be paid to overhead obstacles, height-restricted entryways, or low-hanging pipes. Most standard enclosed models require a minimum overhead clearance of at least 2.0–2.2 meters for safe operation.

III. Turning Envelope & Maneuvering Buffer

Beyond the straight-line width, the Sweeping Envelope must account for:

• Turning Radius: The sector-shaped area required for the vehicle to complete a U-turn.

• Safety Buffer: We recommend maintaining a 0.3–0.5 meter buffer beyond the actual machine width and turning radius to prevent collisions or abrasions when navigating near walls, racking, or machinery.

IV. Practical Selection & Site Assessment

Before procurement or scheduling operations, it is essential to:

1. Review Technical Specifications: Focus on overall length/width/height, minimum turning radius, and maximum sweeping path (with brushes deployed).

2. Conduct Site Surveys: Measure the narrowest passages, lowest overhead points, and "dead zones" at corners or intersections.

3. Optimize Equipment Choice: For highly confined spaces (aisles <1.5 meters), prioritize compact models or those featuring a "narrow-track" mode. If the environment is too restricted for a ride-on cabin, consider an open-platform or walk-behind industrial sweeper.
