Symptoms: Broom is stationary, rotates slowly, produces unusual noises, or slips under load.
Hydraulic Motor Failure
Inspect hydraulic hoses for leaks or loose fittings; tighten or replace seals.
Measure hydraulic pressure against equipment specs. If pressure is low, inspect the pump and relief valves.
If internal wear is detected, replace the hydraulic motor.
Drive Chain or Gearbox Damage
Chain Drive: Check for loose, derailed, or seized links. Tension, lubricate, or replace the chain as needed.
Gearbox: Check oil levels. If grinding or seizing occurs, refill oil or disassemble for component replacement.
Seized or Damaged Bearings
Inspect end bearings for heat or grinding sounds. Clean and regrease, or replace the bearing assembly.
Foreign Object Entanglement
Check for wire, rope, or debris wrapped around the broom core. Shut down the machine before manually clearing obstructions.
Control System / Solenoid Failure
Inspect the electrical circuit, valve spool, and solenoid coils for proper operation.
Symptoms: Debris left behind, skipped patches, excessive dust, or uneven sweep patterns.
Worn or Damaged Bristles
Inspect bristle length. If worn to less than 50% of the original length, replace the brush wafers or broom core.
Insufficient Downward Pressure
Adjust the hydraulic float setting or mechanical spring tension. Ensure the brush makes consistent contact with the surface.
Improper Leveling or Angle
If the sweep pattern is uneven, adjust the mounting bracket, linkage, or pitch angle to ensure the broom is parallel to the ground.
Low Operating Speed
Verify that the hydraulic flow meets the required GPM/LPM. Adjust engine RPM or check the flow control valve.
Incorrect Bristle Material
Match the bristle type to the surface. Use Polypropylene (PP) for general debris and Wire/Poly Mix for heavy-duty or packed material.
Symptoms: Mechanical clunking, humming, or excessive machine vibration during rotation.
Bearing Failure / Contamination
Localized heat or grinding indicates dry or contaminated bearings. Flush with grease or replace.
Bent or Imbalanced Broom Core
Significant "jumping" usually indicates a bent center shaft or uneven bristle wear. Straighten or replace the broom core.
Loose Mounting Hardware
Perform a full walk-around inspection. Tighten all bolts on the mounting plate, motor housing, and pivot pins.
Drive System Misalignment
Correct chain/gear alignment and tension to prevent tooth skipping or premature wear.
Hydraulic Cavitation / Resonance
Bleed air from the system. Inspect the suction filter and adjust the flow control valve to eliminate resonance.
