1. Electro-Hydraulic Angle Adjustment (Most Common, In-Cab Operation)
Preparation
Start the skid steer loader and verify the auxiliary hydraulics are operating normally. Raise the broom approximately 6–12 inches (15–30 cm) off the ground to prevent bristle friction.
Inspect the attachment locking pins and hydraulic hoses to ensure there are no loose connections or fluid leaks.
In-Cab Operation (For common models like Bobcat, Gehl, etc.)
Locate the attachment angle controls (typically integrated into the left joystick or located on the control panel).
Angle Left: Press the top or left button to swing the broom to the left (usually up to a 30° angle).
Angle Right: Press the bottom or right button to swing the broom to the right.
Release the button once you reach the desired angle; the hydraulic system will lock it in place automatically. (Note: A few models may require pressing a dedicated lock button to hold the angle.)
Angle Selection Guide
Curbs and Corners: Angle the broom 15–30° toward the curb to windrow debris cleanly to one side.
Large Open Areas: Set the broom to 0° (straight across, perpendicular to the machine) for broad, straight-line sweeping.
Snow Removal: Angle the broom 10–25° depending on wind direction and curbs to maximize snow casting and windrowing efficiency.
2. Manual Mechanical Angle Adjustment (Smaller Models / Basic Brooms)
Safe Shutdown: Turn off the engine, set the parking brake, remove the key, and verify the broom is completely lowered and resting flat on the ground.
Unlock: Locate the angle adjustment linkage on the broom frame and pull out the locking pin.
Adjust Angle: Manually pivot the broom head to the desired angle, aligning it with the indexing holes on the frame (typically 3 to 5 preset positions, allowing up to a 15–30° angle left or right).
Lock and Secure: Reinsert the locking pin and ensure it is fully secured. Check the broom for any loose play before getting back in the cab and restarting the machine.
